Karma Yoga is a path that not only opens our own heart but it is a pathway to transformational leadership and self-actualization. Simply understood, karma yoga is right works, the emphasis on what we do between our spiritual practices (work, chores, volunteerism, earning money, etc.) is actually where we have the greatest leverage points to awaken and catalyze our souls into expression.
So, how do we do this? Clearly it’s not what most people are doing in their lives and work, or even in their leadership. This is what the class and the path of Karma Yoga are about: to work with Karma yoga principles, identify supportive practices and to then apply it in our service projects and in life.
Following the Karma Yoga principles, this month's focus will be: Right Motive. It is not what you do that counts but your real motive behind it. Your motive must be pure. Swami Sivananda says: "Man generally plans to get the fruits of his works before he starts any kind of work. The mind is so framed that it cannot think of any kind of work without remuneration or reward. A selfish man cannot do any service. He will weigh the work and the money in a balance. Selfless Service is unknown to him."
Please note: This session of Karma Yoga will take place on a Saturday. All other sessions are on Wednesdays from 5:30-8:30pm.
