This week at Shakti Rising we are turning our attention to one of our Summer themes: Sparking Our Passion into Action.
Preparing to write this blog post got me thinking. How do we know what our passion is that we want to spark into action? With all that we have tugging at our attention every day, how do we know what is our true passion compared to what we have been taught to believe is important?
I came across this poem by Iain Thomas a couple of years ago and it has stuck with me as one of the fundamental ways that I determine what my true passions are and where I want to put my life force in sparking them into action.
“And every day, the world will drag you by the hand, yelling, “This is important! And this is important! And this is important! You need to worry about this! And this! And this!” And each day, it’s up to you to yank your hand back, put it on your heart and say, “No. This is what’s important.” - Iain Thomas
So for today, just for this moment, I pause, I place my hand on my heart, breathe and choose to slow down. Because it is only when I slow down and pay attention that I can really start to feel just what is important and what my true passions are trying to communicate. Not the things that I have been told are important, but what my heart says really matters.
Will you do the same?
