The educational model is both therapeutic and empowering, promoting resilience, self-knowledge and sustainable living skills. Classes are offered in 4 core areas:
Wellness and Wholeness Health Care: Strengthening overall health is a critical component of both empowerment and transformation. Wellness is an issue at all levels of a person's being, which makes personal health care a fundamental component of treating physical health issues (sexual/reproductive disorders, stomach problems from eating disorders), emotional and mental health issues (trauma, depression, brain imbalances from addiction) and spiritual health issues (being ungrounded, lacking clarity, lacking connection). Strong health is a component of healthy coping, impacts our ability to manage stress, and is vital to our energy and productivity.
Transformational recovery classes: Founded in Shakti Rising’s 9 Gates model of transformation, these classes teach an embodied practice of personal growth that results in increased self awareness, self acceptance and willingness to change. The coursework is focused on building healthy character and ego strength, and covers honesty, emotional literacy, and self-expression.
Sustainable living skills (Lifeskills): These classes focus on creating a lifestyle, specifically, daily choices and activities, that are informed by individual values and vision. Coursework includes creating an abundance mindset that has real-life practical applications and cultivating a belief in yourself and your ability to achieve your dreams.
Leadership and Community Service: The ability to connect our personal experience with the sociopolitical climate puts our own life in context and gives us the ability to effectively leverage our experiences to make larger impacts with others. This includes cultivating and building components of excellent leadership, and creating vision and values statements for our lives. Classes also include education about environmental and woman-centered activism, focusing on solutions that we can incorporate into our daily lifestyles as individuals, families and communities. |
