Sure, Cheerleaders are supposed to be bubbly and full of pep. Their purpose is to rally and raise the spirit of the team as well as the fans. Tina Scaccio is a natural born cheerleader full of playfulness, physical energy and bubbling enthusiasm. If you ask her, she’ll admit it, but she will also tell you the secret side of cheerleading. Cheerleaders are support givers. They are the ones who will quietly hold your hand while you have a good cry and greet you with a cup of warm tea on a chilly winter’s evening. They are the ones who believe in you when you can’t believe in yourself and who help you find the strength to do it anyway. In coming to Shakti Rising, Tina found a match for her naturalness, her cheerleader-ness, her nurturing nature.
From a young age Tina realized the importance of introspection and loving support. As a survivor of childhood leukemia, she knew the experience of pushing through personal boundaries of physical pain. But she was never really able to heal the emotional pain that comes with aggressive medical interventions. She began to heal those well intended wounds while going through the Shakti Apprenticeship Program in 2001. But it wasn’t until she graduated in 2002 and accepted the role of Program House Staff that she truly heard the call of her heart, the call to service work. She answered the call with her usual pep rally spirit and jumped fully into the position of Director of the Transformation through Service program.
Tina is passionate about being a part of building healthy communities. She is dedicated to the belief that everyone can experience and participate in the growth, health and love of the Shakti community. She coaches volunteers and those interested in community service work, in the Shakti principles of personal and community transformation.

"I live for joy and passion, living life to its fullest! I love family and culture. I love capoeira. I love music, dance and movement. I love traveling. I love hearing and experiencing what is in people's hearts and what moves and inspires this world. I am always learning, myself, how to live fully and how to live with heart. It seems as if this lesson is always just beginning."
