Tarja Stoeckl Business & Financial Relations Tarja considers herself a bridge builder between prospective donors and the Shakti Rising community. She is focused on the goal of strengthening philanthropic giving through education. By bringing to light the issues of young women in our society, and how Shakti Rising is working to address them, she is actively building a framework of financial and physical support for the program with contacts in various arenas including corporate and individual funding avenues. Jordan Stanton Transformational Education & Community Wellness As Educational Director for Shakti Rising, Jordan is working to instill a lifelong love of learning in youth, as well as the greater community, through the use of alternative learning and teaching methods with the goal of healing the individual’s relationship with learning and school. Her passion is fueled by her own experiences as a child in a school system where trauma and learning difficulties were not supported in the classroom. Her vision is to create change in education on district, state and national levels, and to ensure that alternative methods are seen as viable and vibrant options for changing the state of teaching and learning in this country. Leah Guthridge Transformational Service Director As Transformational Services Director, Leah’s gifts and abilities as a facilitator of transformation are apparent. She is the first official graduate of the Shakti Rising program and volunteered for 2 ½ years as “house staff." She added her own unique fingerprint to the Shakti Rising landscape as the Housing and Community Development Coordinator. And finally, in true Shakti fashion, she stepped into her power and answered the call of her spirit when she began helping new apprentices as an early recovery counselor in 2004. Her presence and involvement as a mentor, role model, and counselor help apprentices, family members and volunteers alike embrace the joy of transformation as a way of living. Read More >>
Tina Scaccio Transformation through Service The Transformation through Service program is a key component of the Shakti Rising model. Apprentices and Helping Hands (volunteers at Shakti) work together to grow the Shakti Rising community, and participate in community redevelopment activities to improve the quality of life in San Diego. They learn about leadership, community activism and team. Tina leads participants as they follow this “path of breaking the heart open," that point of alchemy wherein one’s own inner healing and service to the world join together. Penny Guinther Penny Guinther found her way to Shakti Rising as a volunteer in 2003. Her training as a nurse and Reiki master were welcome and well used in our Healing Clinic by both Apprentices and Staff alike. Her personal beliefs and professional experience are in perfect alignment with the Shakti Vision, Mission and Business practices make her a positive influence on the growth of the organization as Associate Director.
