The following are just a few current Helping Hands projects.
“Lulu’s Garden” project:
A shining example of joint partnership of Investors, Helping Hands and Apprentices. The garden, a critical part of our model, provides food for the house and anchors our holistic health and herbalism training. Louise Hay seeded our garden project, and made sure it was watered by installing a drip system. She even dug in the dirt in our garden- blessing our project with her green thumb! It was funded by Bread for the Journey, and Helping Hands such as Robert Thompson, Dani Dennenberg, Eloissa Leonna built boxes, removed weeds and trees and planted seeds. Dani and Magda co-directed the project, constructing layout, planting, and developing the initial educational materials. Becca will be growing the vision, and with a larger team of Helping Hands the garden will be a public education site.
Marketing/public education team:
This creative team has quite a challenge: create materials that provide education to the community about the severity of issues facing young women, while also instilling the knowledge that healing is possible. Materials cover a multitude of topics, including addiction, disconnection, violence against women. Lehze Flax heads the project, with Ty Mabrey (our original creative Director) continuing his design work.
Clinical team:
A select group of Helping Hands works alongside staff to provide the core clinical services, as teachers, counselors, healing practitioners, mentors and coaches. This group works as a multidisciplinary team. Charlotte Tenney, Tina McDonald, and Jean Panella have shared their wisdom with us over the years and assisted us with developing the core curriculum of the educational program.
Events committee:
Shakti hosts 3 annual events, each intended to provide education and inspiration to the larger community. Our events range from graduations, a golf tournament and a summer faire ~ each offering a unique experience of transformation as a way of life. We’re looking for fun loving people to be part of an ongoing events committee.
There are many volunteer opportunities at Shakti Rising, ranging from one-day service projects to long-term commitments. Our goal is to create a mutually beneficial relationship between Helping Hands and Shakti Rising.
