These former staff members helped Shakti Rising grow to where it is today.

Katie Klein Katie was a founding member of Shakti Rising, one of the first apprentices, the first house staff, and the first paid staff member. Katie has been a counselor, a member of the Shakti Rising Director’s Circle, planned the Shadowdance fundraiser, and continues to be a critical member of our visioning team. Katie is a gifted healer, and is currently working as an esthetician at Dancing Heart spa
Rachel Hernandez Rachel helped start the Healing Clinic services at Shakti Rising, before becoming house staff, and then paid staff. She co-taught the holistic health classes, working with Jordan to create the seasonal curriculum. Today, she is the proud mother of Elias, and married to Joey, the Co-Chair of Birdies and Butterflies, Shakti Rising’s annual golf tourney fundraiser.
Kat Alessi Kat worked in the business office, helping bring order to the busyness of a thriving nonprofit. A former member of the Director's Circle, Kat brought her talent for generating inkind donations, and her light-hearted spirit. Today, she is realizing her dreams through her healing practice.
Lara Schwartz Lara is a gifted high school teacher, who made tremendous contributions to the education program at Shakti Rising. With her guidance, Shakti’s educational services expanded their onsite and offsite offerings. Her mission at Shakti complete, she returned to her true love, and is teaching at Grossmont High School.
Shannon Small Shannon was a dedicated and beloved member of the Shakti Rising staff. In her tenure at Shakti Rising, she was a director, an apprentice, and the administrative assistant at the office. After graduation, she served as house staff, visionary assistant, and the founding director of Café Shaktea. Shannon continues to be a vital member of the community.
