| Our entire program is funded through private donations, nongovernmental grants, and sliding scale based fees for services. Last year, we raised approximately $350,000. We received grants from the Alliance Healthcare Foundation and the California Endowment which provided funds to support the creation of our curriculum and the operation of our program homes. In addition, we raised approximately $75,000 at our Sixth Annual Golf Tournament. The remaining funds were raised through private donations and sliding scale based fees for services.
Because we are privately supported, we depend on your generosity to continue providing the services that are critically necessary in our community. Every donation, no matter the amount, enables us to reach more young women in need, and to offer the assistance that may empower them to turn their lives around. Our goals this year are to raise $500,000, in order to hire the staff who have been working as volunteers since 1999, and to expand the capacity of the program to allow for 100 women to be enrolled in the recovery program. These are ambitious goals, and we need your help to achieve them!
We are currently expanding our opportunities for the Shakti community to give.
